Thank you for taking the time to comment. Sorry for the delayed response. When I left England 3.5 years ago, I put all my stuff in storage. And that is still where it is! I pretty much live out of 2 suitcases. You do collect some stuff along the way, but I try to keep my material purchases minimal. One thing I wish I had done, was got rid of more stuff. But this is a hard process for me. I just slowly try to get rid of something each day and keep my belongings to a minimum. – As for Gilbert, AZ, well I love the part of the US. My brother lives in Mesa, so I also enjoy long stays there. But I know how it feels to be trapped in a place. US$2,000 is a lot of money to live on in a place like Chiang Mi Thailand. I’ve been there and loved that city. The Algarve is also nice. There is a website called Nomad List that you can search for places in the world that meet set criteria that is important for you. I’m personally enjoying Medellin. – The challenge with all is building a new community, but it is possible.

Now I am 63 and full with fear about living my own life. I agree with most of your thoughts and know memories are better than material things. But what do I do with all of my stuff? Do you live out of 2 suitcases. Not only is my life boring, but I live in Gilbert AZ. Some love the desert….I feel trapped. Another fear is money. I can collect $2,000 a month in SS and am looking for ways to live on this budget. It seems Medellin would be a good start. Other countries I’ve taken a close look at are Agarve Portugal, Croatia and Thailand. Have you been to any of these countries?
